This, like much of Bach's music, is a very adaptable movement suited to being played by several different combinations of instruments. In this version for flute and cello the playing needs to be even and balanced with a lightness about it to prevent the tempo dragging. A tempo of around 54 quarter note (crotchet) beats to the bar is suggested.
