"Over the Waves" (Sobre las Olas) was published in Mexico in 1888 and has become one of the best known Latin American pieces and has been interpreted by many stylistically different types of performing groups. This improver level (second year players) movement in ternary ABA form is an ideal ensemble piece. The realisation plays back at 60 dotted half note (minim) beats to the minute and players need to communicate a one to the bar feel in their playing. A violin part is appended to the music score. Piano accompaniments are available to be downloaded at tempi of (1) 60 (2) 58 and (3) 56 dotted half note (minim) beats to the minute.
